Massive fan pressure meant Adult Swim picked up Youtube hit Smiling Friends for a full season. We take being silly very seriously, and brought that into creating an on-air commercial to promote the show.

The brief was the stuff of dreams. ”Do something cool and fun in your style but keep the characters recognizable.”

So, what if the main characters Pim and Charlie were doing graffiti in 90s-neo-Tokyo style? The answer to that question is yes. It doesn’t make sense, but it also makes all kinds of sense.

As one Instagram commenter said, ”Miami Vice Smiling Friends”. We’ll take it!
